"I've loved Dylan since I first heard

-"SHE'S GOT EVERYTHING SHE NEEDS , SHE'S AN ARTIST, SHE DON'T LOOK BACK ".

Bob's first album came out on March 19th, 1965 -- March 20th that year I was 15. I had a Martin guitar and played music for myself in college in Chicago .

Years later I was living in L.A. doing Scientology and making candles I sold on Sunset Blvd, I was called home and worked at Jonathan Logan Fashion warehouse in New Jersey . At night I dressed like a gypsy and read tarot cards and sung gypsy songs with my guitar at rich people's parties. Wore lots of jewelry back then . One night a guy in the elevator of my parents building in New Jersey looked at me and said ( I swear this is a true story), "If you can sing and write as good as you look I'll make you a star" . He turned out to be Tony Orlando --  Tony Orlando and Dawn. He was a music publisher . He liked my lyrics and introduced me to my music mentor Paul Leka then Mercury records and a young composer,  Vicki Gellman and she became my music partner and best friend for 5 years. Paul had two gold records , "NA NA Hey Hey Kiss Him Good bye" that they sing at the sports games and Green Tambourine. They called us "The Girls" and we made the rounds of producers with our songs and I lived in an apartment with purple walls and a purple shag rug and a loft bed on 56 street between 5th and 6th Avenue, restaurant row, and his beautiful, buxom, secretary Phyllis was my roommat. Vicki and I worked the 1650 Broadway music building (the Brille Building) and went to work everyday in a room with a piano, like Tin Pan Alley. Robin Lamont from Godspell did one of our songs and Jeff Fenholdt who played Jesus in Jesus Christ Super Star on Broadway did one too. Karen Wyman, Jackie DeShannon, I forgot the others. Paul had a recording studio in Bridgeport called Connecticut Recording Studios and his partner was Billy Rose .It was an old 16 track studio then I think . I made a decorated guitar case like an old woman's body and Paul had it on the wall, lots of Black lights glowed on the walls of the stairs painted with dayglow abstractions going up to the studio.Very fine old days.

Lots of bands recorded there and we smoked and ate donuts all night met people like Harry Chapin .We had 9 records out, no hits. The only song we recorded that got anywhere like Billboard Magazine (it was "bubbling under" ) was recorded by Jackie de Shannon on Capitol Records published by New York Times Music Corporation, JIMMIE JUST SING ME ONE MORE SONG, 1972, I think. It was for Jimmie Spheeris a friend and artist on Columbia records. He wrote a song for me and I wrote this song for him. This was way before the jewelry business. Laura Nyro, Carol Bayer Sager were at April Blackwood with us then. Dylan was at Columbia in those days. "Dylan is always in the middle of wendylan d, –" in the workshop by the lake lost in the music and incense listening to Live 1966 at Albert Hall CD, the glue gun hot, abandoned for the night for the computer, a Bob world all the time, and will be .

What’s the deal?

A Bob World all the time and will be.

Oh! that was Bob Dylan not Peter Pan . Anyway it's too magic to handle .

Bill Pagel from Bob Links (paGEL ? he's a gel too! an angel ) just wrote and Bob's doing a major tour and will be around the northeast alot in June and July and I'm psyched. Light from the northeast. They had cool posters last show in Amherst Mass and I've cut them up and made some fun art, ---some wild live time.

"Like in a dream Wen someone wakes up and screams"
sings Bob."

Shalom!

"Close Encounters" Beast Goes to a Dylan Concert
"Have you seen that???" Don't know the year, don't remember the place,  but it was New York We were sitting up in the balcony at one of Bob's concerts, my friends and I. My doll Beast was with us, we took her all over like a real kid. Before the show started we were horsing around in the mezzanine my friends and Beast and I. Some guy came up to us "Bob doesn't mind that you brought her" he said motioning at my wolf headed doll , "Just don't forget who's show it is" he said and walked away. I hugged beast and we sat  quietly, Beastie on my lap as the incense drifted up for the rest of the show."
Wendy And Beast go to QVC, October 23, 1998

"While I was getting ready to do QVC in West Chester, Pa, Bob was playing Duluth , Minn. , near Hibbing his home town , where he hadn't played since he was 5 years old .My high school sweetheart Bill called to tell me this, and I checked it out on the bob links pages and it was true. He sang -She Belongs to Me, " She's got everything she needs, she's an artist she don't look back......"
I'm laughing at myself on the TV with my decorated video camera talking about being Wendy Warhol and taping everything, and of course Bob's picture is on the camera. There I am with Beast on QVC telling stories about the Dylan concert we went to on the 70's and I could hear her in the other room saying-- " I'll bet he is in some motel room in Duluth right now watching you on QVC, what else is there to do there at 2:00 am anyway?" This time I was the one who said "Shut up Beast" He opened with Gonna Serve Somebody which he hasn't sang live in concert since 1991 .
"So get me a beer Beast!" I yelled, but Beast was off doing God knows what, so I went back to answering e mail."
More adventures of Beast and Wendy to come.....
